Each coil is hand-built from Ni80 dual-core Fused Clapton wire, available in two inner diameters — 2.5mm (0.30Ω) and 3.0mm (0.32Ω) — calibrated to pair perfectly with the iDot RBA’s six airflow inserts. That means whether you’re running a tight MTL pin or opened up for RDL, there’s a coil spec dialed in for how you actually vape.

As a big iDot fan, it was clear to me that I’d order the coils right along with it. Coils are a science of their own, and I won’t claim to have the full picture down to the last atom of wire. But one thing I know for sure: these coils deliver fantastic results in both 3mm and 2.5mm.
I think everyone knows that a coil tastes fantastic for the first 10 puffs or so, especially when it’s freshly prepped like an RDA. But this is where the real performance zone starts for me: when does the flavor go flat and I feel like dry burning and rewrapping? These iDot coils take a really long time to get there. And when the time comes, the structure of the outer wire and the two cores lets you dry burn them clean very well.
For me, the real quality shows in how often I still get a satisfying flavor after a fresh dry burn. I have a 3mm coil in my iDot that I’ve dry burned 8 times now, and I’m still very happy with the flavor.
I think the easiest way to choose between 2.5mm and 3mm is by the draw you want. For the small inserts for MTL and tighter RDL, I recommend the 2.5mm, since it develops the right heat and the wicking at 2.5mm is more than sufficient. A more open RDL or nearly DL on the iDot means more airflow, which calls for more heat and therefore more liquid, and that’s delivered by the thicker 3mm cotton strand.
All in all, more than solid coils: reliable, very durable, and with great flavor reproduction. My tins of iDot coils will keep me going for a long time. Very good.
